Your adventure begins the
moment your aircraft departs from the Juneau waterfront,
amidst the remains of early day gold mines. You will fly
past waterfalls and lush green rain forests while the narration
describes the unfolding scenery. The highlight will be the
views of the magnificent glaciers, remnants of the Ice Age,
making up the spectacular Juneau Icefields’ 1,500
square miles of solid ice. |
Soar past the imposing faces,
deep crevasses and azure blue meltwater pools of the Norris,
Hole-In-The-Wall, East and West Twin Gaciers and the Mighty
Taku. Of the Icefields 36 named glaciers the Taku Glacier,
five miles wide at its base, and the Hole in the Wall Glacier
that branches from it, are the only glaciers not retreating,
but actually advancing. |

The Juneau Icefield covers 1,500 square miles encompasing
40 major and 100 minor glaciers. |
The Inside passage is Southeast Alaska’s major freeway
system. To travel by floatplane is to travel as an authentic
Alaskan.
