Juneau Alaska Jobs & Career Opportunities

Wings Airways is a floatplane tour operator offering glacier flightseeing excursions from the historical Juneau downtown waterfront.

Guests from around the world daily make the choice to trust Wings to introduce them to all that is the amazing Juneau Icefield and historical Taku Glacier Lodge. We are a small company where every employee is an extremely valuable part of the “team”. We only hire a small staff each season and we require 110% of those hired.

This is the perfect position for people who function well in a fast paced, high-energy organization. We look for a positive can-do attitude, outgoing personality, genuine energy, and the desire to show guests the best that Southeast Alaska has to offer.

The Visitor Season: Late April through the end of September we provide tours. Most visitors will only have a few hours to a day to experience Juneau. We work long hours, and operate seven days a week.

The Tours:  We have offered the following two tours since our beginnings…and chose not to expand so that we can continue to do what we do best!

  • The Taku Lodge Feast & 5-Glacier Seaplane Discovery
  • The 5-Glacier Seaplane Exploration

With a population of 33,000 residents, over 90 hiking trails, great fishing and hunting, and visitor industry offers to experience whale watching, helicopter tours, dog sleds rides, salmon bakes, zip-lines and more…it is a very special place to spend a summer.  Name brand stores like Costco, Fred Meyer, Home Depot and Sportsman Warehouse help keep the cost of living in check while many locally-owned stores and restaurants add to the wonderful quality of life.

How about the fleet?
The fleet is made up of 5 DeHavilland Otters that have been upgraded with the Texas Turbine engine conversion.  The 900 SHP Garrett turboprop is a favorite feature with our pilots.  Each airplane also has electronic multi-function flight displays with GPS and ADS-B.  The airplanes are meticulously maintained by an award-winning maintenance department.

What is the job like?
Our pilots enjoy flying visitors to Alaska over the spectacular scenery of the Juneau Icefield and to the historic Taku Glacier Lodge.  There are no fish boxes or mail bags to load and trained ramp staff assist with docking the aircraft.

Our pilots fly approximately 350 hours during the May through September season.  Typical schedules include 5 days on, 2 days off with flexibility to meet individual needs.  Average duty day is 10 hours or less and we often do split shifts on busier days.  When the day is done, our pilots go home to their own bed every night.
